Your Android phone or tablet can't get on the internet. Try these steps.
Most connection trouble is fixed by a restart, a setting or a router reset. Try these in order.
This page is for you if
- Web pages won't load
- Google Play is stuck on Loading
- Downloads won't start
Good to know first
Menus can look a little different on Samsung and other brands. You may see Connections instead of Network & internet.
Do these steps
-
Step 1: Restart your device
Turn it off and back on. Google says that's sometimes all it takes.
-
Step 2: Check Wi-Fi is on
Open Settings, tap Network & internet (or Connections), then Wi-Fi. Turn Wi-Fi on. Look for the Wi-Fi symbol at the top of the screen.
-
Step 3: Move closer
If the Wi-Fi symbol has few bars, move closer to the router and try again.
-
Step 4: Turn Airplane mode on and off
In Settings, tap Network & internet (or Connections), then Airplane mode. Turn it on, wait 10 seconds, then turn it off.
-
Step 5: Restart the router
Unplug the router from the wall so its lights go out. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in and wait 30 seconds for the lights to come back on.
-
Step 6: Still not working
Call your internet company, or your mobile carrier if mobile data isn't working either.
Good to know
- On a phone, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If one works and the other doesn't, you know which one has the problem.
Check it with the source
We wrote these steps from these official pages. If your screen looks different, the official page is always right.
