Most Wi-Fi trouble is fixed by checking a setting or restarting the internet box. Try these in order.

This page is for you if

  • Web pages won't load
  • It says No Internet Connection
  • Your Wi-Fi name doesn't have a checkmark

Do these steps

  1. Step 1: Check Wi-Fi is on

Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.

  2. Step 2: Tap your network

Tap the name of your home Wi-Fi. When it's connected, you'll see a blue checkmark next to it.

  3. Step 3: Check Airplane Mode

Go back to Settings and make sure Airplane Mode is off.

  4. Step 4: Check another device

Try the internet on another phone, tablet or computer at home. If nothing works, the problem is the internet, not your iPhone or iPad.

  5. Step 5: Restart the router and modem

Unplug the internet box (the router, and the modem if you have a separate one). Plug it back in and give it a few minutes to start up.

  6. Step 6: Still not working

Call your internet company to ask if there's an outage in your area.

Last resort: reset network settings

  1. Step 1: Know what this erases

This erases all saved Wi-Fi passwords on the device. Have your Wi-Fi password ready. It's often on a sticker on the router.

  2. Step 2: Reset

Open Settings, tap General, then Transfer or Reset iPhone (or iPad). Tap Reset, then Reset Network Settings.
